To find the donor whose donation you want to enter:

There are several ways to find a donor.  You have the option of search by:
a) envelope #
b) donor # (i.e. first three letters of last name)
c) last name, first name or part of the name
d) phone # or part of the phone #

To give a donation for a given envelope number, type the envelope number in either the Env # or the Donor # box. This makes it unnecessary to sort the donation envelopes.  However if you do want to sort the envelopes, press Page Down or Enter until you find the next envelope.

To give a donation when you know only the donor's name, type the first name, last name or part of the name in either the Env # or the Donor # box.  If there are many donors that match what you typed you will see a list which shows all the donors that match.  Choose the donor from the list or press Page Down or Enter until you find the one you are looking for. (To change how it searches by name click here.)

To find a donor by their phone # type the whole phone # or part of it in either the Env # or the Donor # box.

To show a list with every donor's name, click on the donor's name (that is not in a list) or go to the Action menu and choose Show All Names in a List.  You can then choose the donor from the list.

While entering new donations, if you find an envelope number or donor number of someone for whom you have already entered a donation, you will hear a beep and several items will be shown in red, such as the donor's name, some headings and the amounts.

When you change the envelope or donor number to find a donor, the next donation will be easier to enter.  After typing the amount, you press Page Down or Enter, then the cursor will automatically move to the envelope or donor number.  You do not have to take your hand off the keyboard to move the mouse.  (This movement of the cursor can be changed in the Preferences window.)

What happens when tellers/counters can't know who an envelope # belongs to?
For a teller or counter who is not allowed to know a donor's envelope #, there are a few differences:

a) For a donor who has an envelope # there will be no Donor# box and the name will not be shown.
b) Sometimes someone who regularly uses an envelope #, will give a donation and write their name on it without writing their envelope #.  In this case a teller can find the donor using their name.  When the donor is shown (name and donor#) their envelope # will be hidden.   Later when the teller does a report of how much each person gave, the name will be shown but not the envelope #.
c) To show a list with every donor's name the donor's name must be visible first. Also, only donors without an envelope # are on the list.
