Date Formats
In any box that you enter a date you have several ways to give the date.
You can select it from a calendar or type the date. To see the calendar click
on the date box. To remove the calendar just click the date box again or
double-click a day of the month or press the TAB key on the keyboard.
If you select a date using the calendar three times then the calendar will
automatically appear whenever you put the cursor in a date box. If you hide
the calendar and type the date three times in a row then the calendar will not
automatically appear.
If you are typing the date, you can enter it in any of the following ways:
a) Name of the month followed by the day and the year. Use the first 3 letters
of the month name. The year can be 2 or 4 digits. Put a comma, slash
or space between the day and the year.
For example:
May 1,09
Jun 21/2007
Feb 29/04
Apr 5 2013
b) Day followed by the name of the month then the year.
For example:
1 May 04
21 Jun 2013
29 Feb 09
5 Apr 2010
c) Using only numbers and typing mm/dd/yy or mm/dd/yyyy. (USA)
(The slashes can be omitted if you enter two digits for month and day.)
For example:
01/25/13 for Jan 25, 2013
5/3/13 for May 3, 2013
061713 for June 17, 2013
d) Using only numbers and typing dd/mm/yy or dd/mm/yyyy. (Canada)
(The slashes can be omitted if you enter two digits for month and day.)
For example:
25/01/13 for Jan 25, 2013
3/5/13 for May 3, 2013
170613 for June 17, 2013
If you want to switch the date format from dd/mm/yy to mm/dd/yy
or vice-versa, just type the correct date using the month name and TAB off
of the box. Then you will be asked if you want to switch to the other
date format. For example, suppose you type 2/9/13 (to enter Feb 9/2013)
and the software reverses the month and day, getting Sep 2/2013. Then
change it to the correct date by typing Feb 9/2013 and pressing TAB.
Confirm that you want to switch the date format and it will switch to
the mm/dd/yy format.
