Donor Numbers in Import Files:

Donarius® uses donor numbers consisting of the first three letters of the donor's surname followed by a number.  For example if three donors have the surname MacDonald they would have numbers: MAC  1, MAC  2 and MAC  3.

The software you were previously using to track your donations probably uses a different format of donor number.  When importing donors or donations, the previous donor number can be any combination of letters and numbers up to seven characters long.  After a donor is imported, their previous donor number will be saved but each donor will also be assigned a new one.  When you display the donor info you will see both the new and previous donor numbers in the upper right of the window.  When donations are imported, the import file will have the previous donor number and it will be used to find the donor that the donation is for.
