Using Donarius® to automatically import and do mailings

Donarius® can be setup to automatically import donors from a text file and send them an email, text message or print a letter.

You first need to create a donor characteristic that will be selected when you import.  Then you need to setup a custom email, text message or letter that you want to send or print.  It needs to have a command at the end to unselect the characteristic you created. For example, you would put {remove donors:charac E} to unselect the characteristic with the abbreviation E after a mailing was sent. Then when it sends it will select only those who have the characteristic, which are the donors who were just imported. (You can also set it up to unselect a characteristic when you import and select it when you send.)

To have it work like this, you need to start Donarius® using command-line parameters. You need to edit or create a shortcut to start Donarius® and type this for Target
   C:\Donarius\Donarius.exe auto <file> <mailing name> <action>

Each of the command line parameters are:
<file>  The name of a text file to import donor info. Donarius® will check to see if this file exists every 15 seconds. If the file exists it will wait another 15 seconds then process the file. The first line of the file should have field names so Donarius® can determine what each column is. When Donarius® is finished the file will be renamed with an ending of .BAK

<mailing name>  This is the name of the custom email, text message or letter that you want to send or print.

<action>  E means send emails, T means send text messages, L means print letters.  If it is missing it means send both emails and text messages.  The custom email and text message must have the same name.

For example if the command line is:
  C:\Donarius\Donarius.exe auto Donors.txt Ready E
then it will import from the file Donors.txt then send the custom email called Ready.
