Tracking Donor Relationships
(Requires the purchase of the Relationships module)

Donarius® helps you keep track of various relationships between donors, such as:
a) Family relationships (Parent/child, husband/wife)
b) Someone is sponsoring someone else.
c) One person is praying for someone.
d) A person is in authority over another (eg: elder, small group leader, manager)

To add a husband-wife or parent-child relationship, follow these steps:
a) Go to the donor who is considered the head of the family or the main parent.
b) Click on the Show Info ==> button. You will see some fields on the right hand side.
c) Click on the Add Spouse or Add Child button.
d) Enter the spouse's name, the anniversary and the donor type of the spouse.  For a child it is similar except that it asks for their birthday. Leave the date blank if you don't know it. The date can be entered with or without the year.  A child or spouse should not be given an address and the software will assume they have the same address as the main parent.  For an older child, the address can be given and they will get separate mailings.
e) Click the Link Donor button to link them to the main parent.

For a husband/wife all tax receipts and other reports that they would see (eg: statements), will combine all of their donations into one receipt or report.  If they want to have separate reports, put a checkmark on Separate reports for each at the bottom right.  For reports that they would normally not see, the donations are listed separately. (eg: donations by date or donor)

To add any other type of relationship between two people, do this:
1. Click the Donors icon and choose Add/Edit Donors... or press F4.
2. You will be shown the first donor.  Click the Next or Previous buttons or type something in the Find field to find one of the people.
3. Click on the Show Info ==> button. You will see some fields on the right hand side.
4. Beside where it says Link Donor#, type the donor# of the other person.  If have not entered the other person yet you should do it now.
5. If you see a list of people, then choose the correct person.
6. Above that choose the type of relationship between the people.  You have two boxes to choose from depending on the direction of the relationship.  The first box is for a relationship from the current donor to the other person.  The second box is for a relationship to the current donor from the other person.
7. Type a start date.
8. Click the Link Donor# button or press the Enter key.

While you are viewing donors with a relationship to one or more other people, there are several things you can do:
1. You can quickly move to the other person's record by double-clicking their name in the list at the top right or bottom right.
2. To change the start date, anniversary or birthday just change the date.  If there are several people related to the donor, then click one of them first, then change the date.  It will be saved when you click Save, Next or Previous.
3. To delete a relationship, click on the person's name at the top right or the bottom right, then click the Delete button.
4. If a donor has several different kinds of relationships with others, you will see a Next Relationship button at the top right.  Click this to show each type of relationship.

To view a report on the relationships between donors, do this:
1. Click the Donors icon and choose View Relationships...
2. To view all relationships, put a checkmark on Show all relationships then click OK.
3. To view only one kind of relationship, choose if from the list, then click OK.
4. To view relationships that began on a certain date, enter a date range.  For parents/chldren it will find the children whose birthday is in the given date range. The year can be omitted in a date range.  For example, to show those with an anniversary in March you would type from: Mar 1 to: Mar 31.

When you do a donor directory, all the members of a family will be shown.  The husband and wife will be on one line and children on the next line. (If a family member has an address they will be shown separately.) For example, John and Mary Smith have two children: Peter and Linda.  The family would be shown like this:
 SMITH, John & Mary
 (Peter, Linda)
